NAPIER

100% sherry cask matured

Robert Napier (1791-1876) rightly regarded as the ‘Father of Clyde Shipbuilding’, had three main mantras, ‘quality, quality, quality.’ His appetite for invention and innovation in steam-engine and ship-building design saw him rub shoulders with royalty and emperors across Europe.

From the fastest and first iron-hulled ships for the Royal Navy, to the quickest Atlantic crossing, he was a man ahead of his time, one who set the template for future generations of shipbuilders.

From his Govan yard, he carried the ‘Clydebuilt’ legend around the globe, with his signature vermilion and black hooped ships’ funnels becoming a worldwide trademark when he went into business with legendary Canadian shipping-magnate, Samuel Cunard.

The Clydeside Distillery, which sits just opposite Napier’s original shipyard, is proud to have applied his name, and mantra - ‘quality, quality, quality’ - to its latest release, a characterful Lowland malt, matured for over 6 years in Oloroso sherry casks.

STOBCROSS

Bourbon and sherry casks marriage

The ancient state of Stobcross was named after a historic cross which once marked the route to Dumbarton Rock. On this road, in the 1600s, the Anderson family built a fine mansion, Stobcross House, later going on to lay out the prosperous weaving village of Anderston. With time comes change, and in 1875, with the industrial rise of the River Clyde, Stobcross House was demolished to make way for the Queen’s Dock – once the beating heart of Glasgow’s global maritime trade and fame.

Today in the Dock’s former Pumphouse, built-in 1877, that spirit of innovation continues with the combination of experience, passion, and skill to create The Clydeside Distillery’s first release, ‘Stobcross’ – a single malt, rooted in history. Time and tide might have changed the Clyde, but the city’s spirit of innovation and creation still burns bright.

2023 LIMITED EDITION

First-fill bourbon casks - cask strength

At The Clydeside, we don’t want our whisky (nor our customers) boxed in by stereotypes or clichés. With our annual Limited Edition release, The Clydeside hopes to shed a new light on Lowland whisky: highlighting its many beauties, while showcasing its manifold virtues and re-examining its presentation.

The first Clydeside Limited Edition release is a cask strength expression bottled at 60.6% vol., bolstering the intensity of the generally softer Lowland style, while exemplifying its finest attributes. Orange marmalade and fruity malt aromas linger on the nose. The sweetness of the malt marries seamlessly with oak influence from the ex-Bourbon casks the whisky was matured in. The spices and vanilla explode on the finish as the higher proof finally announces itself.

TASTING NOTES

This Clydeside Single Malt is produced using clear water from Loch Katrine, 100% Scottish barley and then matured in the finest Oak casks.

Nose: Bursting with sweet aromas of ripe tropical fruit and vanilla pastries

Palate: Peach and plum, candied orange & marmalade

Finish: Tart citrus, cream soda & lingering spice

Matured in the finest American first fill Bourbon barrels.

Packaging is 100% recyclable. Outer tubes have a perforation allowing for easy recycling of both the tube and the tin ends.
